The Board of Directors of Oceans North Kalaallit Nunaat has appointed Jenseeraq Poulsen as the new executive director. Jenseeraq Poulsen contributes with a great deal of organizational experience within strategic management, and at the same time has broad experience with project management.
At the beginning of April 2023, Jenseeraq Poulsen started his new job. The Board’s choice fell on Jenseeraq Poulsen because he has solid experience with project management within public and private companies, an in-depth knowledge of the political-administrative system, as well as knowledge of organizational development and strategy processes. As the new director, Jenseeraq Poulsen will work to ensure the continued development of Oceans North Kalaallit Nunaat (ONKN) as an environmental fond and NGO.
Jens Immanuelsen, chair of ONKN’s board of directors, states:
- “I am sure that ONKN will get an executive director who can further advance the organization to ensure a focus on the development of sustainable use of our living resources in equal dialogue with society, institutions and other partners.”
Louie Porta, executive director of Oceans North Canada and board member of ONKN, states:
- “Tasks are best solved together, and from the Canadian side we look forward to collaborate with Jenseeraq on our collective project and common desire to create a lasting NGO in Greenland, which focuses on the sustainable use of living resources and a healthy marine environment.”
Jenseeraq Poulsen, executive director of ONKN, states:
- “NGO work is no stranger to me. My many years of commitment and experience from a political organization give me solid competence to promote ONKN’s focus areas. The Arctic nature is vulnerable, and we have an obligation to ensure that we can live in and with it for many years to come. I am very much looking forward to being able to anchor sustainability via ONKN. So that sustainable development, including use and protection, both meets the needs of society without destroying the opportunities of our descendants.”
