A GREENLANDIC FOND AND INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT
Oceans North Kalaallit Nunaat is an environmental “fond” – or charitable organization – and Non-Governmental Organization that promotes sustainable use of marine living resources and marine protection in partnership with Greenlandic stakeholders such as organizations, local communities, and researchers.
The fund aims to build and disseminate knowledge about the marine environment and coastal areas in collaboration with the Indigenous Peoples of the Arctic. As part of this work, the fund supports the development of Inuit’s rights in these areas as well as informational, educational, sustainable and cultural conservation initiatives.
The fond was established on September 14, 2021, and is based in Nuuk, Greenland.
